Fernando Matos Silva

Fernando Matos Silva

Fernando Matos Silva weaves together images captured in Guinea-Bissau (1969–1970) during the colonial war and in the Lisbon suburbs (1975–1976) amid the revolutionary period, incorporating allegorical elements. This essay-film interrogates the colonization process in what was then Portuguese Guinea, deconstructing dominant narratives and building a critical reflection on history and power. This copy is the result of a 4K digitization of the original 16mm camera negative. The sound was digitized from the optical track of a 16mm sound positive.
