Death of Tomonari Nishikawa

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of filmmaker Tomonari Nishikawa on April 20, 2025. The author of some twenty masterful experimental films, and a professor at Binghamton University, United States, Tomonari Nishikawa was at Cinéma du Réel in March 2024 to present the last of them, Light, Noise, Smoke and Light, Noise, Smoke, a film shot using the fireworks from a summer festival in Japan, whose astonishing light play today bring back memories of a gentle, warm being. Our thoughts are with his wife Miki, his children and his family.
