Malena Szlam

She is a Chilean artist and filmmaker based in Montréal/Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang. Through her practice, Szlam reimagines connections between humans and the natural world.
Recent projects focus on geology, earth sciences, and volcanology. Szlam’s work has been exhibited widely at festivals and museums.
Szlam’s 2018 film Altiplano was in competition at Cinéma du réel in 2019.
Szlam’s work is in MoMA’s permanent collection.
