L’expérience Zola

Anne is a theater director. She has separated from her husband and is moving out. She meets Ben, a neighboring actor, but she doesn’t want another man. She decides to stage Zola’s L’Assommoir, and offers him the role of Coupeau, reserving for herself that of Gervaise. As the story unfolds, the line between real life and the play becomes blurred, until the couple’s downfall.
