Obsessed by a situation over which they have no control and nourrished by the press which talks of little else, Alice and Joana, obliged to remain confined to their home, question what is happening (to them), passing from humour to love to hope to anger.

It was around the age of 30, when I was working in a local cinema in Paris and living a fast-paced life, that I was bitten by the documentary film bug. The films of Frederick Wizeman, Robert Kramer, Claire Simon, Agnès Varda, the Maysles brothers and so many others opened my eyes to a world that had been unknown to me until then. Going through the Ateliers Varan finally decided me to change my life and make films myself, in an intimate, slightly mad quest for slowness and calm, in contrast to the frantic pace I had been going at until then, in a quest for cinema in the real world. To leave everything behind and start again from almost nothing. Attempting to make cinema, doing it ‘down home’, or even at home. That’s what I’m trying to do today, from my little corner of the country where happiness has followed me, in St Nazaire, where I live with my wife and our two children.
